Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet ornamented with a coiled serpent. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY / BAΣIΛEΩΣ Nike standing to left, holding a wreath in her outstretched right hand and a stylis with her left; in the field to left, M; beneath Nike's right wing, ΛY. HGC 3.1, 970b. Price P179. Well struck and attractive. Light marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.

DCA 878. Newell, Dated, 45. Price P175. Clearly struck and toned. Minor flan fault on obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

Head of young Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΦIΛIΠΠOY Zeus seated to left on low throne, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and sceptre with his left; in field to left, kithara. Price P43. Sharply struck and beautifully toned. Extremely fine.

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios, 323-317 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.30 g, 11 h), Sardes, circa 323-319. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Zeus seated to left on a high-backed throne, his torso and legs turned partially to front, holding eagle on his extended right hand and a sceptre with his left; in left field, torch; beneath throne, monogram of ΠΥΡ. Price P69. Well-struck and attractively toned. A remarkable reverse die with Zeus' legs and body turned towards the viewer. Minor flan faults on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

The reverse die of this coin has been engraved by a master! Not only are his legs partially turned toward the viewer, but his head is recognisably similar to those on contemporary issues of Olympia!

Price P93. Boldly struck and beautifully toned. A scarce variant with TI beneath the throne. Good extremely fine.
