Tetradrachm (Silver, 13.89 g), c. 490-480. Pegasus galloping to right; below, hunting dog running to right; both on dotted ground line. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. AMNG III 4, pl. XXVI, 27 (Thermai) = BMC 6 = Svoronos pl. XIV, 13 = Traité I 1816, pl. LVIII, 6. Extremely rare, apparently the second, and finest, example known. Some minor deposits, otherwise, extremely fine.
Ex Bank Leu 48, 10 May 1989, 129 and Bank Leu 25, 223 April 1980, 98. This extremely attractive and rare coin is very closely related to a tetradrachm from Sermylia (Leu 71, 24 October 1997, 131) which has a horseman galloping to right with a hound below, and might well be from dies cut by the same engraver.
