Sicily, Syracuse Double-decadrachm circa 400, AV 13.5mm, 5.77 g. ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΟΝ Head of Arethusa left, hair elaborately waved and caught up behind in sphendone ornamented with star and wearing necklace, bar and triple-pendant earring; behind head, EYAI. Rev. Naked young Heracles kneeling r. on rocky ground, head to front, strangling the Nemean lion with both arms. De Ciccio 36 (these dies). Bérend 42.5 (this coin cited). SNG ANS 338 (these dies).
Very rare. Minor marks on obverse and die break on reverse; otherwise extremely fine/good extremely fine.
